Loudspeaker Systems Engineer

Ion Audio is expanding and we are seeking to hire an experienced Loudspeaker Systems Engineer.

Experience and Education Required:

The candidate for this position must have a minimum of 5+ years experience designing and developing mass market loudspeaker products for the professional and/or consumer marketplace. The candidate must have a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or in a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.

Key Job Responsibilities and Technical Experience Requirements:

Interprets and implements product performance specifications in order to design and specify loudspeaker based products. Works with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers to specify, and to develop solutions for acoustics, signal processing, transducers, and power amplification.

Performs and interprets measurements of: Loudspeaker systems and components; analog and digital signal processing, power amplifiers, and limiter/protection circuits. Analyzes measurements in order to design or specify design changes. Candidate must have experience using Audio Precision measurement equipment, and experience with an acoustical measurement system such as TEF, CLIO, or preferably MLSSA.

Experience with Filtershop and LEAP is desirable. Experience evaluating and specifying loudspeaker transducer components is highly desirable. Experience designing high frequency horns and waveguides is a plus.

Experience specifying and designing analog and digital signal processing for loudspeaker products is a must. Experience testing and troubleshooting power amplifiers is a definite plus.

The candidate must have strong project management skills. Experience working with far-east suppliers and contract manufacturers is highly desirable.

This position is located at our headquarters in Cumberland, RI (approximately 60 minutes from Boston, MA). This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
