How many sounds are included with the DM7X module?

The ION Audio Pro X Drums DM7X module comes complete with 40 classic and modern ready-to-play kits. Easily tweak any existing kit, or create your own using the 385 superior drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds included in the DM7X module.  The USB/MIDI connection allows MIDI information to be transferred between the module and the computer, so while it will not allow for audio or file transfer, it will allow for the module to send MIDI information to the computer to trigger your favorite DAW or virtual instrument.

Can the module connect to a computer?

There is a USB/MIDI connection for use with virtual instruments and recording software.  Also, it features MIDI In and Out ports for connecting directly to standalone MIDI gear.  Both connections allow for the passing of MIDI information only.

Can I adjust the levels of the play-along tracks?

The included play-along tracks can be adjusted in various ways.  While the actual key cannot be adjusted, other levels can, such as the volume level, tempo, and click track.  Also, the drums can easily be toggled on or off via the DRUM OFF key on the front of the module.

Can I use my own pads?

While other standard single-zone pads will likely work, this is not recommended as they may respond differently or require modification to work correctly with the DM7X module.  We recommend using the included ION Audio Pro X Drums drum and cymbal pads.  Note: Many of the connection cables for the Pro X Drums kit are 1/8" connections rather than 1/4" connections.

Can I add triggers for more pads or cymbals?

The ION Audio Pro X Drums Kit comes with an impressive 3 single-zone tom pads, 1 dual-zone snare pad, 3 cymbal pads, a variable hi-hat pedal, and the StealthKick 2 bass drum trigger.  There are two additional inputs on the rear of the module for an additional pad and cymbal to be connected if you so choose (cables and pads not included).  You can also connect another StealthKick 2 trigger and kick pedal (sold separately) and use the "link output" of the kick triggers to create a double-kick pedal setup.

How do I set up a double-kick with the Pro X Drums kit?

The StealthKick 2 contains a Link jack that allows two StealthKick 2 units to be connected together to create a double bass drum setup.  To create a double-bass for use with the ProXDrums Kit, obtain a second StealthKick pack (or use your own pedal with the StealthKick 2) and connect the two pedals via the 1/4" Link connection.

Will other kick pedals work?

The module will recognize virtually any piezo bass drum trigger and the StealthKick 2 works with virtually any bass drum pedal.  To use the StealthKick 2 with another pedal, connect the included StealthKick 2 "reverse beater" to the pedal of your choice, and then connect the StealthKick 2 trigger to your pedal the same way that you would connect to the Pro X Kick Pedal that is included with the Pro X Drums Kit.

Is the hi-hat pedal a continuous or a switch-type pedal?

The Hi-Hat pedal included with the Pro X Drums Kit is a continuous variable type pedal.  This pedal allows for open, half-open, and closed hi-hat sounds, and will also allow for "chick" and "splash" sounds when the pedal is pressed down and released without striking the hi-hat cymbal pad.  Note: Switch-type pedals are not supported by the DM7X module.
